THE NEED FOR HOUSING REPAIRS
Families in need of affordable housing are everywhere: small towns, villages, sprawling cities, and in our community. Housing needs present itself wherever people live and work, and it takes on many forms and has far-reaching effects.
While the vast majority of Americans feel stable and secure in their current situation, housing insecurity touches nearly half of adults at some point in their lives. A majority of Americans believe that it is challenging to find affordable quality housing in their communities. More than half of all adults say they have made at least one trade-off in order to cover their rent or mortgage. Such trade-offs may include taking second jobs, cutting back on health care, cutting back on grocery shopping, and moving to less safe neighborhoods.
When people struggle to survive from week to week it can be devastating when an emergency arises or when they need to make repairs to their home and just can’t afford to make those repairs. When code enforcement gets involved then it becomes a greater financial burden because the homeowner is placed on timetable to get code violations fixed.
Many homes in Deerfield Beach have several code violations, but are unable to fix the problems due to lack of money. Most of the homeowners with code violation issues are the elderly, veterans, and disabled. Some do not have the resources and some do not have the ability to fix their housing issues.
HOME REPAIRS
The home repair division of Caring Hands of Deerfield is a Nonprofit 501C3 company which is dedicated to helping families and individuals who are in need of any assistance regarding home repairs. Caring Hands of Deerfield partners with people in our community and various businesses, to help them improve a place they can call home. With your support, we will help homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. We help repair homes in urgent need of assistance in Deerfield Beach.
We use all volunteers to help repair the homes, from local churches and organizations around Broward County. Families and businesses partner with Caring Hands to build better lives for those in the community that need and extra helping hand.
We are seeking to show people in the community that someone cares about them and values them. We want to bring people together to repair homes, repair communities, and to give hope.
We ask for nothing in return, all we want is to help make our community a better place for not only us, but for the generations to come.
